![]() The XO is true-bypass, 9v (not daisy chain-able), and from the factory tends to be a bit hot and distort on the lowest notes (with bass's at least) and the 'guitar' slider all the way up is well over unity- Therefor it is necessary to adjust the trimpot inside the case, EHX should have made it more easily accessible like the older ones. Bass guitar microsynth pug in mod#But, they come stock with a 3pdt switch and the true-bypass mod can be done with a soldering iron, no new parts necessary. The Macro's sound fatter- I've A/B'd the two, and the general consensus on talkbass from others who have owned both of them is the the older ones sound a little bit better. Probably due to the 24v power requirement, Macro's (macro=old big box)sound better and seem to have more headroom and they have a trim pot on the bottom- the XO has the trim pot inside the case. I had an older Bass Macro Synth and recently replaced it with an XO, they're both great pedals, and each has it's +'s and -'s. Otherdimensions - Many 'bass' pedals just don't cut lows like their 'guitar' couterparts and can be used with both and sound great. They all(old and new bass version, Ive never heard or used the guitar versions) sound good and very similar, though there's a slight difference between the original bass micro synth and the new XO. But I'll definitely either have it repaired or get a new one. The sound ingineer I know says it happens with MS. And 2 weeks ago I purchased a new complex power supply from the local guy. As for reliability - it worked fine for more than a year. ![]()
